Back in 2018, my family and I made a big decision to move to Canada from the Middle East. Like many newcomers, we started by reaching out to immigration consultancies. But after receiving little guidance, we quickly realized we’d need to figure it out ourselves. So, we rolled up our sleeves, did the research, and completed our own immigration application from start to finish.
It wasn’t an easy decision to leave the place where I was raised. Starting over in a new country can be overwhelming but when we arrived in Canada, we were met with kindness, warmth, and an incredible sense of diversity. That welcome stayed with me.
During our own process, I was constantly answering questions from friends and family about how we did it. I discovered how much I enjoyed learning about immigration pathways, policies, and systems. That curiosity grew into a passion. Even before receiving my permanent residency, I was already working toward becoming a licensed immigration consultant.
